Adult Leader Training - REQUIRED

Checkout Tidewater Council Training Calendar for Adult Leader Training Schedule at http://tidewaterbsa.com/training-info/

Leaders must be trained in each of their registered position (i.e. Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Member, Merit Bage Counselor).

Everyone must complete their Leader Specific Training to become a registered BSA member.

Everyone must also complete Youth Protection Training every two years and it must not expire within the year of recharter. Every Fall the troop kicks off the annual BSA Recharter and submits the package and the fees to Tidewater Council by the 1st of December.

Council has scheduled several Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) Training dates for Assistant Scoutmasters. This course is not available on-line. You must attend in-person at the training site. Leaders can attend training at any District Training Event Dates. This is a required course to be position trained.

Youth Protection, Scoutmaster, and Troop  Committee Member Training, as well as supplemental training courses can be taken on-line at www.My.Scouting.org

An overview of Leader Training Courses and training syllabus which prove quick references to complete courses, all designed to help our members improve leadership skills and deliver a quality program, can be found at BSA National website: http://www.scouting.org/Training/Adult.aspx

Every scout deserves a trained leader. Please complete leader specific training soon. Also, checkout the various supplemental training courses which may be required for the troop to conduct/attend an activity/event.

If you have any schedule conflicts or training questions, please contact Glenn Tainter (Troop 179 Leader Training Coordinator), Committee Chairman, or Scoutmaster.
